Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has this afternoon become the new owner of a Bundesliga record, previously held by Kevin De Bruyne.
Bayern cruise
Hansi Flick’s men visited the Volkswagen Arena a short time ago, for their final league outing of the campaign.
The Bavarian giants headed into proceedings having long wrapped up the German top-flight title, the club’s 8th in a row.
This, though, did not stop the champions from putting on a show at Wolfsburg’s expense.
A dominant Bayern display eventually saw them emerge with a 4-0 victory.
Kingsley Coman set the visitors on their way with just 4 minutes on the clock, before Mickael Cuisance made it 2 with a stunning strike shortly before half-time.

And the onslaught only continued following the interval, as Thomas Muller added to Robert Lewandowski’s spot-kick to bring another victorious Bayern campaign to a close in style.
Muller’s record-breaking season
As outlined above, meanwhile, as well as proving a fine afternoon’s work from a team perspective, Bayern’s victory over Wolfsburg also came as a significant one for one of the club’s star men.
The player in question is Thomas Muller.
German attacker Muller has enjoyed a stellar campaign to date, having rediscovered his best form in some time.
Whereas the 30-year-old was, earlier in his career, viewed as a goalscorer, Muller has molded his game over time, to become more of a creator.
And it is this aspect of the German international’s game which is best represented by his record-breaking feat this afternoon.
In setting up Kingsley Coman for Bayern’s opener at the Volkswagen Arena, Muller took his tally of assists for the Bundesliga season to 21.
This marks a new high in the competition’s storied history, with Muller having broken his tie with Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, set by the Belgian during his time with, coincidentally, Wolfsburg.
