Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues warning to Chelsea & Leicester
The message from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was clear: Man United are gunning for Chelsea and Leicester.
Following Wednesday’s win against Sheffield United at Old Trafford, Solskjaer laid out his objectives for the remainder of the 2019-20 season:
I have never said fourth is our aim, we want to win, we want to go up to third, of course we want to.
There’s two cups there for us as well so hopefully we can take each game, count the points and only have two teams ahead of us at the end of the season.
Man United are 5th on 49 points. Chelsea, who face Man City tonight, have 51 points, while Leicester are 3rd on 55 points.
This weekend, Man United face Norwich in the FA Cup quarterfinals.
The Red Devils are also still competing in the Europa League. United are 5-0 up on LASK in their last-16 tie.
Manchester United 3 – Sheffield United 0: Red Devils put Blades to the sword
Manchester United put Sheffield United to the sword after beating them 3-0 on Wednesday, putting them within two points of entering the top four. Meanwhile Sheffield United dropped another three points moving them further away from qualifying for European football.
Anthony Martial was the star of the show scoring all three of United’s goals. This happens to be the first hat-trick United have scored in the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
After receiving a lot of criticism from United fans for being lazy and not being a good enough centre forward, the Frenchman has just proved to a lot of fans that he is up to the task of being United’s main man upfront.
In Manchester United’s last game which saw them draw 1-1 with Tottenham. Many United fans were questioning Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s tactics and his starting lineup. With the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matić left out.
The same couldn’t be said for Wednesday’s game against Sheffield United where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got it all right. The lineup saw Pogba, Matić and Mason Greenwood replace the likes of Daniel James, Scott McTominay and Fred. United fans were given the opportunity to see a front 3 of Martial, Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.
While Manchester United played some very good football the same couldn’t be said for Sheffield United who put on yet another disappointing display in their 3-0 loss to United.
Sheffield United looked very tired and lacklustre with and without the ball. The reason for this may be because they were playing their third game in a week and they don’t have the same squad depth as the other Premier League teams do.
Either way this could be cause for worry as Sheffield United have performed very poorly since the Premier League resumed. Watch highlights of the 3-0 Manchester United win here:

Chris Wilder fears Blades are ‘falling off a cliff’
Sheffield United have been in poor form since the Premier League restarted.
Once Champions League challengers, the Blades now have a mountain to climb to secure European football next term.
After a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa, Sheffield United have shipped 3 goals in successive defeats at Newcastle and Man United.
Obviously their goals have completely dried up too.
Speaking after the defeat on Wednesday, manager Chris Wilder expressed his fears that the Blades are falling off a cliff:
We tried to for this game, but we’ve had no time on the training ground to write the wrongs.
We looked pretty tired and we have to find an answer. We have turned the ball over cheaply.
I don’t want us to fall off a cliff.
Next up for Sheffield United is an FA Cup at home against Arsenal, following by a home Premier League match against Tottenham next Thursday.
