Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has this afternoon opened up on his side’s long-standing links to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
Dortmund standout
English international Sancho is widely-regarded as one of the finest young talents on the planet.
Since departing Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund in 2017, the electric winger has gone on to light up the Bundesliga, with a near-unrivalled combination of touch, pace, ability to beat his man and, crucially, a finished product.
The 2018/19 season saw Sancho rack up 13 goals and a hefty 19 assists across all competitions.
The current campaign, meanwhile, has seen the attacker’s production reach even more impressive heights, with the 11-time capped international having notched 20 goals, to go along with 20 assists.
‘I would be the most surprised of all’
This level of consistent excellence has inevitably resulted in rumours that Sancho has been added to the wishlists of a number of Europe’s top clubs.

A Premier League return has long been mooted for the Dortmund standout, with Manchester United known to be keen admirers, and Sancho himself said to be ‘very open’ to the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.
Another of the English top-flight’s heavyweights long-named as suitors of the pacey wide-man, though, have been Liverpool.
The Reds recently missed out on the signing of Timo Werner to Chelsea, leading to speculation amongst fans that a swoop for Sancho could be on the agenda.

And, as outlined above, Jurgen Klopp has today moved to provide an insight into Sancho’s Anfield links.
Speaking at a live event hosted by German publication BILD, the Liverpool boss was drawn on the rumours that his side are eyeing up the 20-year-old’s signature.
And, though Klopp lightheartedly revealed his opinion that Sancho would be suited to Liverpool’s colours, he also admitted that a Reds swoop this summer is altogether unlikely:
‘A red jersey would look very good on Jadon. But I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer. ‘
‘He is a very interesting player. If he moved to Liverpool, I would be the most surprised of all!’
