Hugo Lloris sends warning to Tottenham ahead of Man United: ‘We don’t have the right to lose games’

Hugo Lloris has sent out a very frank message to his Tottenham teammates ahead of the Premier League restart.

Tottenham vs Man United

The Premier League season is set to resume in the middle of next week.

The first full match week since the suspension of the English top-flight back in March then gets underway on Friday the 19th of June.

The big clash that day pits Tottenham and Manchester United against each other.

Not only does this tie have that something extra due to United being Jose Mourinho’s old club. But it could also be a deciding clash in Spurs’ already diminishing hunt for Champions League football next term.

Lloris’ rallying cry

The Lilywhites will kick off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sat 8th in the Premier League, four points adrift of United who are currently in 5th spot.

The Red Devils could well be down to 6th place on Friday though, should Sheffield United win their game in hand on Wednesday.

As a result, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to pick up a victory on Friday, Spurs could well find themselves seven points adrift of 5th and possibly even 10 points off 4th place Chelsea by the end of the weekend – should Frank Lampard’s men see of relegation-battling Aston Villa on Sunday.

One man seemingly well aware that Tottenham really need a win vs Man United is their No.1 stopper, Hugo Lloris.

Speaking in a recent interview, the Frenchman stated that his side do not have the right to lose games at the moment, especially when they are up against a direct opponent such as United:

“We have to be honest, we are not in a good position at the moment – four points to Manchester United, seven points to Chelsea.

“We don’t have the right to lose games. Even more when you face a direct opponent like Manchester United. We are going to start again with a very important game, maybe a decisive game for the future. This game is going to count.”

On a slightly more positive note, Lloris did confirm that Tottenham have a pretty much fully fit squad ahead of the PL restart:

“We are more or less all fit and this is a big difference. We’ve been quite unlucky in terms of injured players this season. It affected the whole squad and the performance when you miss your main players for such a long period.

“So it’s like a new season is going to start. The team will look different than a few months ago.”
