Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland compared to cyborg
The front page of Spanish paper AS is dedicated to Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker Erling Haaland.
Last Saturday, Haaland broke the deadlock for Borussia Dortmund in a 4-0 win over Schalke in the derby.
19-year-old Haaland has now scored a remarkable 13 goals in 12 games for Dortmund since his transfer from Salzburg in January.
AS have today portrayed Haaland as a cyborg: half man, half machine.
Buenos días!

Erling Haaland always sat near the buffet with a mountain of food on his plate
While focusing attention on Haaland, AS also spoke to a handful of people who have watched the youngster develop in recent years.
Erase Steenslid, who was a coach of Haaland’s at Molde, told the following stories about the red-hot striker:
His body responds so well to training because his genetics are special.
He gained twelve kilos of muscle in fifteen months (during a growth spurt). Crazy! We built up his muscles from scratch.
He was always the closest to the buffet and his plate was literally a mountain of food.
AS also spoke to Alf-Ingve Berntsen, who coached Haaland for eight-years at Norwegian club Bryne:
At 13 years old I already saw that this kid was going to make the Norwegian national team.
He has a very special work ethic and tactical nous.
If I were (Real) Madrid or any other great club, I would try to sign him today. He is the future.

Haaland links to Real Madrid
A couple of days ago, AS analysed Real Madrid’s interest in signing Haaland.
Haaland is currently under contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2024. According to AS, BVB wouldn’t consider selling their Scandinavian striker before 2022.
Nevertheless, AS peddled the following reasons to buy into the narrative that Real Madrid is the best place for Haaland to go next.
– AS say Martin Ødegaard (currently on loan at Real Sociedad) has already spoken to Haaland about joining Los Blancos.
– AS report that Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joaquim Watzke has an “intimate” relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, and Watzke is “in love with his management.”
– AS believe that Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, is keen on moving his client to the Santiago Bernabeu.
More discussion about Haaland’s character
Yesterday we presented some of the fallout following Haaland’s post-match interview against Schalke.
Fingers have been pointing at Haaland after he appeared to only offer one-word answers during his post-game interview.
Note: It’s since been revealed that Haaland actually gave longer answers during his interview.

Nevertheless, Jan Aage Fjortoft has today revealed the splash of the sport page of Norway’s VG paper.
On it, Sky Sports reporter Jacqui Oatley is quoted saying:
(Haaland) likes to get people to look stupid. That doesn’t suit me.
Fjortoft has tried to come to the defence of BVB’s brilliant teenager attacker.
This is @JacquiOatley on the #VG – frontpage here in Norway today.
Quote: – He likes to get people to look stupid. That doesn’t suit me.I asked Jacqui yesterday. “When did he tell you that?”
Opinions YES. But tell us what Erling Haaland thinks is something else pic.twitter.com/GvKAveGYnL
