Chelsea land Ziyech
Despite having their transfer ban reduced, Chelsea didn’t sign a single player in the January transfer window.
However, less than a month later, Frank Lampard would land his first signing as Chelsea boss.
In a somewhat out of the blue move, it was announced in mid-February that the capital giants had acquired the services of Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech for a fee believed to be around £33.3m.
The 27-year-old is now set to become a Chelsea player on July 1st.
Ziyech clinches award
Despite his future now being in England, Ziyech has still managed to grab one last award before departing Amsterdam.
The SC Heerenveen youth has enjoyed another sensational campaign on the books of the Dutch giants.
In total, Ziyech has scored eight and provided a staggering 21 assists across 35 outings this term.
And after the Eredivisie was drawn to a premature end last month due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Ajax have now decided to hand out their end of season awards.
This saw the soon to be Chelsea star clinch the Ajax Player of the Season award for the 3rd year in a row.

Whilst Ziyech will no doubt be pleased to pick up said award, the midfielder has recently been discussing the end of his stint in the Netherlands, describing it as a strange way to close a chapter:
“It’s a bit strange. You know that everything comes to an end, but it’s a strange way of closing this chapter.
“I am happy to take the next step, but you don’t want to end it like this. It feels as if you didn’t pass the exams, that’s how it feels. You’re powerless. It doesn’t feel like the season ended successfully.”
