Dynamo Dresden squad put in 2 week quarantine after 2 more players test positive
Less than a week before the Bundesliga is due to restart in Germany, German football has been given another health scare.
On Saturday night, Dynamo Dresden confirmed that their whole squad has ordered into quarantine after two more players had tested positive for Covid-19.
Dynamo Dresden have explained their situation on their website:
On Friday, May 8, 2020, the third test series for ‘Covid-19’ of all second division squads, including the coaching and supervisory staff of SG Dynamo Dresden, took place as scheduled.
After evaluating all laboratory samples, it was clear on Saturday that there were two new corona cases at SGD.
The affected players have been medically normal in the past few days and are currently still symptom-free.
After an intensive analysis of the situation, the health authority in Dresden responsible for the SGD in Dresden decided on Saturday that the entire second division squad, including the coaching and support team, must now go into a 14-day quarantine at home.

Note: Three Dynamo Dresden have now tested positive
Dynamo Dresden had already dealt with a positive Covid-19 case prior to Saturday’s statement.
In the first wave of testing of all footballers in Germany, Dynamo Dresden turned up one positive result.
That player was placed in quarantine, as reported by Bild.
Hannover vs Dynamo Dresden is postponed
Dynamo Dresden were due to restart their Bundesliga 2 season on May 17 with an away trip to Hannover.
However, following these new Covid-19 positive cases, the Hannover-Dynamo game needs to be rescheduled.
For the record, Dynamo Dresden are battling for their Bundesliga 2 lives, sitting bottom of the league.
They are level on points with Karlsruher, a point behind Wehen Wiesbaden and four points from safety.
Bundesliga restart still on
Despite the two new Covid-19 cases, the Bundesliga is still on course to restart next weekend.
However, as reported by Der Spiegel, many are now questioning whether the Bundesliga restart plans can hold together.
That’s because the sporting integrity of the Bundesliga season is now in doubt.

How can anyone argue that there’s equal opportunity in the Bundesliga now that Dynamo Dresden’s squad have been forced back into quarantine and can’t train for two weeks?
Der Spiegel also report that Dynamo Dresden had plans in place to isolate their squad in the event their players produced positive tests.
Accordingly, Dynamo Dresden already had plans to move their squad into a hotel. It’s believed those plans will cost Dynamo Dresden 30,000 euros.
