John Lundstram’s Sheffield United contract extension confirmed before Tottenham

John Lundstram’s Sheffield United contract extension confirmed

Yorkshire Live reporter, Jonty Colman, has confirmed that Sheffield United have extended John Lundstram’s contract in the run-up to Thursday’s Premier League match against Tottenham.

26-year-old Lundstram’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of the season. However, the Blades had an option to extend the deal by one-year. Readers are told:

Sheffield United have triggered a one-year extension to John Lundstram’s contract at Bramall Lane.

The Blades are also trying to convince Lundstram into agreeing a longer-term deal too. However, the midfielder has yet to put pen to paper on that contract.

Yorkshire Live confirm that “the midfielder has had a new contract offer for a number of months but is yet to sort his long-term future.”

Lundstram has scored 4 Premier League goals this season.

Sheffield United team news vs Tottenham

John Lundstram is likely to miss Thursday’s match against Tottenham.

Lundstram was forced out of last weekend’s FA Cup defeat against Arsenal with an injury to his arm.

The midfielder used his shirt as a sling as he exited the Arsenal game.

On Wednesday, manager Chris Widler issued the following update on Lundstram:

He has a scan today, so we will know the outcome of the scan this morning.

Looking back at it, it looked like an awkward fall, so I imagine he will be touch and go for Thursday night. We are all dependent on the results of the scan.

Blades centre-half Jack O’Connell is also a doubt for the Spurs game. After a recent injury in training, O’Connell has been absent for several weeks.

While he’s now returned to training, it’s unlikely that O’Connell plays against Tottenham. Wilder said:

Every day goes by so we have got a decision, every day that goes by is a better day for the club for Jack to be involved in a game.

His attitude is spot on and he will be doing everything that he possibly can in his power to make that happen as soon as possible. We just have to make that right decision for the medium and long term with these types of injuries as well.
