Christophe Dugarry calls Leo Messi a short ‘half autistic kid’ on RMC Sport

French World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry is under fire following comments made on the ‘Team Duga’ show on RMC Radio this week regarding Barcelona and Argentina star Leo Messi.

Dugarry’s comment was as follows:

He (Antoine Griezmann) is afraid of what?! He is afraid of a kid (Leo Messi) who is 1 metre 50 (inches) tall, who is half autistic?

Why did Dugarry made this statement about Leo Messi?

48-year-old Dugarry went on a rant during a discussion about Antoine Griezmann’s position at Barcelona.

Griezmann was brought on in the final minutes of Barcelona’s 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid last weekend.

That result has swung the La Liga title race firmly in Real Madrid’s corner.

After the game, Barcelona manager Quique Setién explained his decision to only introduce Griezmann in injury time:

I understand he may feel bad and I feel bad for him because he’s a great person and professional.

It’s difficult to put him on without destabilising the team.

When the topic of Griezmann was brought up on the radio, Dugarry went on his Leo Messi rant.

It’s worth noting that Dugarry also told Griezmann to “put a pie in Messi’s mouth if there is a problem!”

 

Social media in uproar

Audio clips of Dugarry’s outrageous comments are now flying around the French football Twittersphere.

Naturally, the former French football is being hammered for his deplorable language against Messi, while he also insulted all those who are actually effected by autism.

For the record, while RMC Sport have an article on some of Dugarry’s opinions on Griezmann, the news outlet have omitted the pundit’s comments about Messi’s height and health.
