Gunners ‘intensify’ Thomas Partey interest
For months now, Arsenal fans have been reading reports concerning Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
Partey is a 27-year-old Ghanaian international who operates in a defensive midfield slot. And, according to David Ornstein, Arsenal’s interest in signing the midfielder is growing:
The Athletic understands Arsenal have intensified their interest in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.
(Partey) has a €50 million release clause but Arsenal will be hopeful of negotiating a lower figure.
Arsenal have a long-standing interest in Partey, who is thought to be keen on moving to the Emirates Stadium.
What else did David Ornstein say?
– Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract talks remain at a standstill.
– 18-year-old striker Folarin Balogun is set to leave Arsenal.
Arsenal vs Norwich
Arsenal are back in Premier League action on Wednesday when they host Norwich.
Norwich have the worst away record in the league, with one win and three draws from 15 matches on the road. They have managed to score just six times on their travels.
So can Arsenal claim a third consecutive win in all competitions?
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was rested on Sunday in Arsenal’s FA Cup win at Sheffield United, and should return against the Canaries.
Aubameyang has gone four consecutive Premier League appearances without scoring, his longest run without a goal for the club, so he’ll be keen to add to his season’s tally of 20 goals across all competitions.
