Premier League friendlies
There are only 9 days remaining before the 2019-20 Premier League resumes.
On June 17, Man City take on Arsenal while Aston Villa travel to face Sheffield United.
As the resumption date draws ever closer, Premier League clubs are stepping up their training regimes.
Accordingly, some Premier League clubs returned to action last weekend in warm-up games, and others will start competing again this week.
Tottenham vs Norwich
As confirmed by the Telegraph, Tottenham are set to play Norwich on Friday, June 12, in a warm-up game.
Norwich are rock-bottom of the Premier League on 21 points. The Canaries are 6 points behind Watford and West Ham, who sit just outside the drop zone.
Tottenham are 8th in the division on 41 points. Spurs are 7 points behind Chelsea in 4th.
The Telegraph have reported the following on the Spurs-Norwich fixture:
Jose Mourinho has lined up a friendly for his Tottenham side to face Norwich on Friday as he steps up plans to resume the season later this month.
Full games will also help prevent injuries during a period which is similar to a pre-season. The guidelines for playing teams has been to be within 90 minutes of travel, which works for Spurs and Norwich.
Another rule to know about these friendly games: teams can only face opponents who they have played twice in the Premier League already.
Tottenham have actually faced Norwich on three occasions in 2019-20: in the two league matches this season, the games finished Norwich 2 – Spurs 2, and Tottenham 2 – Canaries 1. Norwich also beat Tottenham on penalties in the FA Cup.
One week before they restart their respective Premier League campaigns, Tottenham and Norwich will play each other in a friendly on Friday | @mcgrathmikehttps://t.co/N2R5g1JWgx
