Matteo Guendouzi available for Southampton vs Arsenal
Two games, two defeats for Arsenal.
After losing 3-0 at Man City last Wednesday, Arsenal slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday in the Premier League.
Will Mikel Arteta’s losing run continue against Southampton on Thursday? The Saints come into the game following a 3-0 way win at Norwich last weekend.
Since the resumption of Premier League, Arsenal have lost Bernd Leno, Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka to injuries.
Moreover, David Luiz picked up a two-game suspension, while Lucas Torreira, Calum Chambers, Cedric Soares and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are all injured too.
Yet, in a modicum of good news for Arteta, it was confirmed on Monday that midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has escaped any punishment from the FA after he put his hand around Neal Maupay’s neck last weekend.
Guendouzi will be available for the trip to St Mary’s.
Matteo Guendouzi avoids an FA ban for grabbing Neal Maupay by the throat. FA confirm: “Guendouzi’s conduct during this incident was not seen by the match officials, but subsequently reviewed by the VAR, so he will face no further action.” Both clubs warned for mass confrontation.

Guendouzi accused of taunting Brighton players over money
Yet, while Guendouzi may have dodged a wrap from the FA, the young French midfielder is the focus of a negative report about his behaviour at Brighton.
According to an unnamed source, Guendouzi taunted Brighton’s players about money during the match. The Daily Mail report:
Sources claim Guendouzi, who earns in the region of £40,000-a-week, spent the game taunting Brighton players about the financial disparity between the squads.
‘He was saying the Brighton players were s*** and that he and his team-mates earn so much more than they ever will,’ a source said. ‘He’s done it in other games as well. Arsenal are a decent club and hate that sort of behaviour.’

Cedric Soares to leave Arsenal without playing
Today is D-Day for Premier League clubs who need to agree contract extensions with any players who are set to become free agents on June 30.
If these players are to remain at their employers until the end of the Premier League season, then those details need to be agreed today.
Arsenal have four players poised to become free agents: David Luiz, Cedric Soares, Pablo Mari and Dani Ceballos are all out of contract at the end of the season.
According to Spanish journalist Kike Marin, Cedric Soares is set to return to Southampton from Arsenal at the end of the month when his loan deal expires.
Should that happen, Cedric will leave the Gunners without ever playing for the side. The Portuguese defender has been injured for the entirety of his loan spell.
