Mallorca to be punished for pitch invader vs Barcelona
The late match on Saturday night in La Liga saw Barcelona triumphed 4-0 at Mallorca.
However, the game was interrupted in the second half when a pitch invader appeared on the turf at the Son Moix stadium.
In usual times, clubs would come under scrutiny for allowing a pitch invader onto the pitch.
But these aren’t normal times. Football has only just returned to Spain.

So how did a kid wearing an Argentina jersey and without a mask on, manage to race onto the grass and stop such a high-profile game?
The joke doing the rounds on social media after the incident was that Mallorca would be punished with a game behind closed doors.

Yet, Spanish paper El Pais seem certain that Mallorca will be punished for the lapse in security.
El Pais claimed the episode will “surely cost Mallorca, who will receive a heavy sanction from La Liga.”
The assumption is that Mallorca will be fined.
So how did the pitch invader break into the Son Moix stadium?
Mundo Deportivo have printed quotes from the pitch invader telling his side of the story.
The Argentina fan was described as a “young man of French origin, but a lifelong resident of Mallorca.”
Hard to believe that, given all the security around behind-closed-doors games, we had a pitch invader (bottom right) at Son Moix tonight, casually taking a selfie… pic.twitter.com/g34JgPQvVa

Regarding his story, the pitch invader said:
I planned it before the coronavirus.
I was with some friends and I arrived (at the stadium) around the 40th minute. I jumped a two-meter fence, I got into the stands, and I went down the stairs to the field.
Messi is my idol… My idea was to take a picture with Messi. My dream is to have a photo with him and meet him.
But, first, I saw Jordi Alba and I did it (took a selfie) with him. Later I went to Messi, but due to the virus, he wouldn’t take a photo.
Then the police made me remove everything. My plan failed because of my nerves.
They made me delete the photo and sign a document with my details. They will tell me if there is a fine or not.
