Liverpool have tried to sign Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele – Gianluca Di Marzio

Liverpool are in the market for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, reports Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio on Wednesday.

According to Di Marzio, Liverpool have contacted Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele in “recent days”.

Liverpool offered Dembele the option to complete a loan move to Anfield, while looking to secure a right to sign the player in a permanent deal from the Camp Nou. However, the deal seems to have been torpedoed by the player.

Di Marzio reports “Dembele stressed that he did not want to move from Barcelona”.

What we don’t know about the Liverpool, Ousmane Dembele report

The way Di Marzio reported that Liverpool were rejected by Ousmane Dembele, it suggested that Barcelona didn’t shoot down the enquiry out of hand.

Whether Barcelona are willing to sell 23-year-old Dembele, however, remains unclear.

We also don’t know anything about the financial package Liverpool were offering Dembele and Barcelona.

Would the French international have to take a pay cut to join the Reds?

And, with regard to an option to buy, how much were Liverpool prepared to offer Barcelona?

And then there’s one final question: will Liverpool try to sign Dembele again, or will the Reds now give up?

Mundo Deportivo linked Liverpool to Ousmane Dembele

It’s worth noting that Di Marzio isn’t the first person to link Liverpool to Ousmane Dembele this week.

Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo claimed on Monday that Liverpool would consider making a move for Dembele in their efforts to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig were stifled.

However, Mundo Deportivo did not report that Liverpool have already made a move to sign Dembele.

Could Ousmane Dembele sign for Juventus?

On Wednesday, Mundo Deportivo linked Juventus to Dembele.

MD claim that Juve are interested in the forward. Moreover, Barcelona would consider including Ousmane Dembele in a deal to secure Miralem Pjanic from Turin.

Note: Ousmane Dembele’s La Liga season is over

Almost a month ago, Spanish radio station Cadena SER revealed that Ousmane Dembele’s 2019-20 La Liga season is over.

It’s been a difficult season for Dembele, who has repeatedly struggled with injuries.

Dembele has been recently sidelined with a muscular injury sustained in early February.

That injury forced Barcelona to move in the transfer market, as they signed Danish forward Martin Braithwaite from Leganes in an emergency deal.

However, as a result of Braithwaite’s arrival at the Camp Nou, Dembele was delisted from Barcelona’s La Liga squad.

As a result, Dembele cannot play for Barcelona when the Spanish season restarts this month.
