Positive news on the fitness of a pair of Barcelona’s star attackers has been forthcoming online this afternoon.
Mallorca vs Barcelona
Quique Setien’s men are set to return to competitive action next weekend.
Barca, along with the rest of La Liga’s clubs, have of course not taken to the pitch since early in March, following the outbreak of COVID-19.
Recent weeks, though, have seen major steps towards a resumption taken not only in Spain, but across the continent.
The La Liga campaign is set to officially get back underway on Thursday the 11th of June, with the Seville derby.
Barcelona, meanwhile, will resume their defence of the Spanish top-flight crown with a trip to Mallorca on Saturday night.
The Blaugrana currently sit top of the La Liga table, two points clear of Clasico rivals Real Madrid, and will no doubt be confident of their chances of maintaining this advantage following Gameweek 28, having put struggling Mallorca to the sword in comfortable fashion back in December.
Suarez returns/Messi improving
Ahead of Barca’s trip to the Iberostar Stadium, however, the Catalan giants have been forced to sweat over the fitness of a pair of key attackers.
The first comes in the form of Luis Suarez.
Uruguayan hitman Suarez has been sidelined since January, having been forced to undergo surgery on his right knee.
Recent weeks had seen speculation mount that the former Liverpool man was inching towards a return, but his potential participation versus Mallorca had remained unclear.
As confirmed in an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms this afternoon, though, Suarez has returned to full fitness, and is ‘available for selection’ for Barcelona next weekend:
‘Luis Suárez is ready to return. 147 days after having surgery the Uruguayan striker has received the all clear from the Club’s medical services and is available for selection as Barça get ready for the return to action on 13 June at 10pm CEST away at Mallorca.’

In further positive news for the La Liga champions, meanwhile, photographs have emerged of Lionel Messi back out on the training pitch.
Blaugrana captain Messi picked up a thigh issue earlier this week, leading to fears that the Argentine could miss his side’s return to action.
But, after Barca moved to play down such fears yesterday, the club have today posted a further positive update, in the form of photos of Messi back in personalised training:
