Arsenal reportedly set to discuss future with Lacazette in coming weeks

ESPN have recently provided a fresh update on Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette, amid reported interest from Atletico Madrid.

Lacazette’s Arsenal stint

Lacazette, now 29, made the switch to the Emirates back in the summer of 2017.

After an impressive stint in Ligue 1 with boyhood club, Lyon, Arsenal snapped the Frenchman up for a fee believed to be around the £47m mark.

Lacazette has since gone on to enjoy a decent spell in north London, notching over 100 appearances for the Gunners.

In said ties, the 16-time capped international has netted 45 and assisted 21.

However, Lacazette’s recent form, particularly away from home, has been somewhat of a concern.

In fact, it has been over a year since the former Lyon hitman scored an away goal in the Premier League, last doing so vs Fulham in February of 2019.

Arsenal to hold talks with Lacazette

Lacazette’s future at Arsenal has also been somewhat up in the air in recent months.

The forward has a contract with the Gunners until 2022. But it was reported at the back end of February that Lacazette has an agreement with Arsenal that he’s free to leave if they don’t secure Champions League football for next season, a feet which seems rather unlikely at this stage.

Spanish outlet Atletico Madrid have also been fairly heavily linked with the Arsenal man of late, with the potential of a Lacazette-Thomas Lemar swap deal touted in May.

However, if the aforementioned report from ESPN is to be believed, then Arsenal aren’t that keen to lose Lacazette in the near future, despite all the links pointing to a move away.

ESPN claim that the north London outfit are set to hold talks with Lacazette over his future in the coming weeks, with the report also citing interest from Atletico.

Crucially, it is added that Lacazette is not agitating to leave. However, he is believed to be seeking assurances over his role under Mikel Arteta for the 2020/21 campaign.

But should Arsenal indeed opt to part ways with Lacazette in the upcoming window, ESPN claim he could fetch as much as £60m this summer.
