30 years of hurt finally over for Liverpool FC

Liverpool ended their 30-year wait to rule English football’s top-tier after Manchester City failed to get the win they needed to prolong the season at Chelsea. Goals from Christian Pulisic and Willian were enough for a 2-1 win over the reigning champions, with Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick being scant consolation. The result sparked emotional scenes across Liverpool, Merseyside, and the wider world, as the Reds wrapped up the title with seven games remaining – a Premier League record – in a tumultuous season that once threatened not to even be completed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
