Wolves’ Raul Jimenez suggests he wouldn’t turn down Barcelona or Real Madrid

Wolves forward Raul Jimenez has recently been speaking about rumours linking him to other clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Jimenez impressing with Wolves

Raul Jimenez first joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 on a season-long loan from Benfica.

Both Wolves and Jimenez had superb 2018/19 campaign’s. Despite only just winning promotion the season prior, Wolves managed to secure a 7th place finish in the Premier League, which earned them a spot in this season’s Europa League.

As for Jimenez, he netted 13 and provided 8 assists in 38 league ties for the newly-promoted outfit.

Nuno Santo and co. then secured the forward’s services on a permanent basis this past summer.

And to say the Mexico international has continued to improve would be somewhat of an understatement.

Despite having a hectic summer at the Gold Cup with his country, the 28-year-old has already notched 44 appearances for Wolves this term, giving 100% in every tie and scoring 22 goals along the way whilst also providing 10 assists.

Jimenez open to Real/Barca switch?

Given Jimenez’s top form over the last two years, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see the hitman linked with some big clubs.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with the centre-forward this term.

And unfortunately for Wolves fans, whilst they will not want to lose their top scorer, it sounds as though Jimenez is open to a move to the latter of those aforementioned sides.

Speaking in a recent interview with ESPN, Jimenez was addressing his transfer links of late.

And whilst the CF America youth insisted he was happy in England, he also hinted that he wouldn’t turn down an offer from either of Real Madrid or their bitter rivals, Barcelona:

“I find out [about transfer links] through social media. They have already put me at Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and every day comes out a new team that want me.

“I have to be calm. If they are talking about me, it is because I am doing things well; I would like to continue in England. I am happy, adapted and I like the idea [of staying in the Premier League].

“If you tell me that tomorrow an offer from Real Madrid or Barcelona comes, it is obvious that you do not let such an opportunity go, but if I stay here, I am fighting to qualify for the Champions League, for important things.”
