Liverpool in ‘pole position’ to sign Timo Werner
RB Leipzig and German international forward Timo Werner has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool for months.
In the past twenty-four hours, both the Independent and Guardian have published fresh reports on the likelihood Werner moves to Anfield in the next transfer window.
Starting with the Independent, reporter Melissa Reddy – who is known for her excellent contacts at the Reds – wrote:
Liverpool have not ceased their interest in signing Timo Werner, but the club have made no concrete decisions around transfers given the financial implications of coronavirus and uncertainty over how it will reshape the market.

Over in the Guardian, Fabrizio Romano has sung from the same hymn sheet.
Romano notes that “Liverpool are in pole position to sign the 24-year-old”, however the deal is now on ice due to the Covid-19 crisis.

How much would Liverpool have to pay for Timo Werner?
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool already know how much Werner costs:
Contrary to reports, the release clause in the striker’s contract – which stands at €60m (£52.7m) – is still valid.
Timo Werner has scored 27 goals in 36 games for RB Leipzig this season, taking his overall total for the German club to 88 in 150 appearances.
For the German national side, Werner has scored 11 goals in 29 games.
