Leo Messi donates another €500,000 to fight Covid-19 in Argentina & the Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona story

Leo Messi donates €500,000 for PPE in Argentina

Barcelona star Leo Messi has again dipped into his own pocket to help financially in the fight against Covid-19.

The Garrahan Foundation has confirmed that Messi donated €500,000 to help buy PPE for Argentinean doctors battling coronavirus in the country’s hospitals.

Picture evidence of the delivery of the PPE supplies was provided in a video posted by Garrahan Foundation on Twitter.

Messi’s latest donation has been applauded on the front page of Argentine paper Ole on Tuesday.

Back in March we reported that Messi donated a total of €1 million to causes in Barcelona, and his hometown of Rosario in Argentina.

While Messi never made a public comment about his donations, the social media account for a hospital in Barcelona confirmed the story.  Hospital Clínic in Barcelona revealed:

Leo Messi made a donation for the fight against Covid-19 at Hospital Clínic. Thank you very much Leo, for your commitment and your support.

The Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona story

Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo have splashed their front page with claims that Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic could soon move to Barcelona.

The underlying thesis is that the 30-year-old Bosnian international is out of favour at Juve, and he’s now a target for the Catalans.

Should Barcelona really be looking to refresh an ageing squad with a 30-year-old?

MD say Barcelona are willing to include any of three players in the deal: Arthur Melo, Jean-Clair Todibo and Nelson Semedo.

At the same time, the paper are seemingly intent on selling the transfer story to Barcelona fans, as readers are told that Pjanic is versatile, as he’s able to play in any midfield position.

Pjanic is under contract at Juve until 2023. This season’s he’s scored 3 goals in 22 Serie A appearances.

It’s worth noting that ESPN have also reported on Barcelona’s interest in Pjanic:

Pjanic, 30, is open to a move to Camp Nou, according to high-ranking executives at the club, and talks are ongoing as Barcelona try to come up with a formula that will see Juventus open the door for the Bosnia international’s departure.
