Four Sevilla players broke Spain’s social distancing rules
On the same weekend that Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane, was accused of breaking Spain’s quarantine rules by Sport, four Sevilla players were definitely caught out flouting the country’s social distancing rules.
Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez, Luuk de Jong and Ever Banega hung out together, along with their wives, on Saturday.
Over the weekend, Spanish citizens were allowed to gather in groups no bigger than 10 people.
12 people were spotted at the Sevilla players’ get-together.

Ever Banega’s wife posted pictures on Instagram
The four players at the meet-up were Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez, Luuk de Jong and Ever Banega.
Ever Banega’s wife, Valeria Juan, shared photos of the event on social media.
However, those pictures have since been deleted after everyone realised that they showed the footballers acting against the Spanish protocols.

La Liga are furious after scheduling derby with Betis
The timing of the Sevilla incident was pretty bad, coming on the same weekend as La Liga confirmed their plans to resume the 2019-20 season.
Speaking on Spanish TV, La Liga chief Javier Tebas confirmed that the league is scheduled to restart on June 11 with the Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis.
The Spanish government has given the green light for the return of professional sport – including #LaLigaSantander and #LaLigaSmartBank – as of June 8th, following guidelines from the Ministry of Health.#BackToWin pic.twitter.com/OjjV61pnBf

However, Tebas also used the opportunity to reveal his anger with the latest social distancing breach by the Sevilla players:
Players are an example to society and should be careful with their actions.
I call on all footballers to not act like this. We have to be very careful because a lot of people’s jobs are at stake.

Behind the scenes, El Pais have revealed that La Liga sent an email to all 20 clubs which revealed how furious they are with the Sevilla players. That email said:
In the last hours, we have found out that some players have failed to comply with health regulations, revealing such non-compliance on social networks, and showing a relaxation before this final stage of the journey. These attitudes are incomprehensible and unacceptable.
These attitudes put the completion of the league at risk. Any display of relaxation is a lack of respect for La Liga, the clubs, players and coaches.
So what’s going to happen to the Sevilla players?
El Pais also reveal the following statement from a source at Sevilla:
Yes, we will have to do something because they have broken the protocol.
Accordingly, the four Sevilla players should expect punishments to be dished out imminently.
The assumption is that the players will be fined for their bad behaviour, however they will probably be allowed to continue training for the resumption of the new season.
Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez, Luuk de Jong and Ever Banega apologise online
It should also be noted that Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez, Luuk de Jong and Ever Banega have all taken to social media to apologise for their behaviour.
Ever Banega wrote:
I want to apologise for what happened yesterday. It was a gathering of family and friends, but unconsciously we were not correct. For this we want to ask forgiveness from our club, our fans and from society in general. It won’t happen again. All we want is to return to playing as soon as possible.

Luuk De Jong wrote a similar message:
I would like to say sorry to everyone that was offended due to what occurred yesterday, which will not be repeated. We want competition to return. We only wish to come back and play.
