Jose Mourinho has on Thursday moved to provide injury updates on three of Tottenham’s key men.
Tottenham’s injury woes
Tottenham’s 2019/20 campaign has been rather dismal for a variety of reasons.
Spurs crashed out of League Cup earlier in the season vs lower-league Colchester.
The Lilywhites were also handed a 7-2 drubbing by Bayern Munich in the Champions League before parting ways with long-term boss, Mauricio Pochettino.
Mourinho did improve Spurs slightly when he first arrived, but before the season was halted, the north Londoners were on a six-game winless run across all competitions.
Of course, Mourinho should be held accountable for these results to some extent.
But it’s also fair to point out that Tottenham have had some horrible injury luck this term, especially in 2020.
Harry Kane, Spurs’ top scorer and captain has been out of action since early January, as has Moussa Sissoko.
Mourinho and co. then lost Heung-Min Son, arguably Tottenham’s second-biggest attacking threat behind Kane, to injury in mid-February.
And to cap off Spurs’ injury woes, shortly before the season was curtailed, Steven Bergwijn sustained an injury vs Burnley.

Mourinho provides updates on Spurs trio
Now though, as mentioned above, Mourinho has provided fresh updates on three of those stars.
Heung-Min Son is, of course, currently away on military service with South Korea.
But as for the three remaining players, Mourinho confirmed that they have all recovered from their injuries.
However, whilst having said trio back from injury is positive for Spurs, the Portuguese tactician did cast doubt over their fitness somewhat, stating ‘it’s another thing to be ready to play football’:
“They are recovered from their injuries, so Harry Kane is not injured, Moussa Sissoko is not injured, Steven Bergwijn is not injured, but it is one thing not to be injured, it’s another thing to be ready to play football.
“For them it is many, many, many weeks of injury and when the injuries were almost at an end, we stopped training (because of the coronavirus pandemic).
“I don’t know, they don’t know, we have to wait for the official and right permission for the players to train again in groups to see if they can come back to a normal competition level.”
